Our Cat's Little Trick

One day, about seven or eight years ago, I came home from work and I was alone in the house. Wally was out doing something....probably away at a rubber stamp show. I'm changing my clothes in the bedroom and I hear someone peeing in the bathroom. I was pretty freaked out but I managed to tip toe and peek through the open doorway...to see our cat peeing in the toilet! When I told Wally about it he didn't believe me at all. How does a cat teach himself to pee in the toilet? I guess it's not as uncommon as I thought. Wally got a video the other day and when I went to upload it on YouTube...there were almost 600 other videos of cats peeing in toilets. In most cases the cats have been trained but I did see some that were self taught like ours. Just what you wanted to watch today:

  2. LOL! He'd have to train all of our other cats first. But sometimes you are just thankful that they actually go in the sandbox...ya know?

  4. Can you send him over to teach our 13 cats??
Any "accident" when the seat is down?

  5. We leave the lid up and Wally knows better than to leave the seat up or I have a huge hissy fit. The cat has over shot a couple of times but you really can't get upset with him when he does that, now can you?

  6. Oh my gosh, that is a stitch! Now if your cat could only learn to flush afterward! I would love it if our cats would do that - no more litterboxes to clean. What would I do with the extra time...maybe stamp? Mary P.

  7. Amy, that is a fantastic trick! Cats do learn by imitation. I taught my dog to ring a bell hanging from the doorknob on the slider when she needed to go outside. Both my cats observed that when the dog rang the bell, I opened the slider and let her outside. So now when one of my cats wants to go outside, he stands on his hind feet and bats the bell until I let him out. But even funnier: when the cat wants back inside, the dog rings the bell to get my attention, so I'll open the slider and let the cat in. Those animals have me well trained!
